04/30/2012

With track meets and other high school spring sports in full swing of this the Hiawatha Red Hawks have been competing in multiple sports and events. On the track side Courtney Brennan and Denzel Chilcoat have had very successful track seasons thus far and both have set new school records at Hiawatha.

Brennan broke the school record in the javelin throw notching a 116'7" mark last week in the Hiawatha Invitational, surpassing the previous record of 113'4.5" set back in 1996 by Robin Tollefson. Brennan went on to win the javelin throw at the Hiawatha Invitational.

For Chilcoat he sprinted his way into the Hiawatha record books setting a new record in the 200 meter dash running a 22.1, beating out the record by one-tenth of a second. The previous record was 22.2 seconds for the 200 meter dash. Chilcoat won the 200 meter dash at the Highland Relays the meet he set the record in, he also won the 100 meter dash during that meet, also.
