Effingham City Council Acts on Home Condemnations
05/08/2012

The Effingham City Council issued nuisance ordinances Monday night, in one of their two special meetings, to two homes that could eventually become condemned if action to clean them up is not taken.

According to City Clerk Pat Strine, a residence located on Seabury Street and one on Howard Street will received the notices.

She says the council is looking at creating an ordinance on unsafe structures in the future that would skip the nuisance notice step in the condemnation process.

In the other special meeting, the council approved a 25 hundred dollar contract with Banks Construction for repair of a sewer line.
