A grand-celebration is planned as public swimming returns to the City of Oskaloosa in time for the summer season.
That follows the past closure of the municipal pool, which fell into a heavy state of disrepair.
However, with around 140-thousand dollars spent, the swimming pool, in the Jefferson County community, has undergone an extensive makeover, and is set to reopen later this month.
Kathy Griffin joined the City Council in September, and serves, in that role, as department head for the pool(Play Audio :29 seconds)
Griffin says the community has come together to celebrate the reopening, with plans now made for a May 26th open house for the pool, featuring food, entertainment and free swimming(Play Audio :36 seconds)
The musical entertainment for the day will be provided by local high school students(Play Audio :17 seconds)
Griffin says the open house and celebration will begin at noon, on Saturday, May 26th, at the park and pool, located in Oskaloosa.
The events are set to run until 5:00 that evening, with the free swimming running all day until 8:00 that evening.
