The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced that both the northbound and southbound rest areas located south of Mound City on Interstate 29 in Holt County, Missouri have been scheduled for demolition.
Demolition of the northbound rest area is scheduled to begin Monday, June 4. The existing buildings and picnic areas will be removed and replaced with expanded truck parking and will be signed as having unimproved facilities.
Demolition of the southbound rest area will not take place until the completion of the new Rock Port Welcome Center being constructed on Interstate 29 at mile marker 109 south of the Rock Port exit. Completion of the new facility is estimated for mid-June.
