Commission Interviews Police Chief Candidates
06/21/2012

The Hiawatha City Commission is expected make a decision on the hiring of a new police chief at their July 2nd meeting.
The commission interviewed six candidates for the position during a special meeting Tuesday evening.
City Administrator Lynne Ladner said a committee met last week to narrow the field of 17 candidates who had applied for the position.
Evans Woehlecke is serving as interim police chief until a new police chief is hired.
He announced in late April that he was stepping down as police chief after holding the position for 12 years.  He plans to continue serving as a patrol officer.
