Charles Edward Hunsaker, of Highland, died early in the morning on March 1, 2026. He was 82.
Chuck was born August 5, 1943, in Bendena, Kansas toHoward and Myrtle Edward’s Hunsaker. He married Deborah Robbins May 25, 1990, at Leona at the United Methodist Church and had spent most of their married life in Highland.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by a sister Thelma, St. Joseph, a brother, Bill and Debbie Hunsaker, Highland, and his wife of 35 years, Deborah (Debbie), of the home in Highland.
Chuck was the Highland Postmaster for several years and an avid gardener. He also loved the Chiefs, Royals and K-State. He was also an Army Veteran serving in Viet Nam in the 70’s. He was in country less than 30 days when the jeep he was in hit a land mine. For that he received a purple heart. After recovering in Japan, he went back to finish his tour. After retiring from the Post Office, he worked for Dean Barber at Ernie’s in Highland for a number of years.
Services will be held Thursday at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland at 11 a.m. with visitation at Chapel Oaks at 10:00. Burial will follow at The Highland Cemetery with military honors provided by Noll-Post Post #33 and Brown County Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Wednesday.
