William Theodore Shane Jr., 79, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026, at his daughter’s home in Muscotah, Kansas.
He was born on November 19, 1946, in Horton, Kansas, the son of William and Sophia Keesis Shane Sr. He grew up on the Kickapoo Reservation and in Imogene, Iowa.
William received a Purple Heart for his service in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. At the age of 32, he became a non-denominational minister and taught of Christ Jesus’s love for the rest of his life. The love of his life was truly Jesus Christ, and now he has joined Him in his forever home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and by his loving wife, Diana Kay Shane, in 2000. Survivors include his children, Sophia Shane, Shiloh Shane, Billy Joe, Becky Lynn, Shannon, Shauna, Tangee Harris, and numerous grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas, where the family will greet friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. Burial will be at the Dance Ground Cemetery on the Kickapoo Reservation.
