Christopher Guy Hamlin was born on December 2, 1972, at Atchison Hospital. He passed away at his home in Atchison, Kansas, on March 18, 2026.
A graduate of Central High School in St. Joseph, Missouri, Chris built a lifelong career in the restaurant industry. He dedicated many years to Palma’s Mexican Restaurant in St. Joseph, Missouri, where his commitment and service were well regarded. Later, he served as manager at the Applebee’s location in Maryville, Missouri.
After many years away, Chris returned to his hometown of Atchison, Kansas, where he continued to find joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time with his family, sharing meals together, and reconnecting with friends. Known among those closest to him for his love of gaming, Chris valued the camaraderie and lasting friendships formed through this shared hobby. His passion for cooking was also reflected in the care he put into his garden, growing fresh produce to enhance the meals he so enjoyed preparing.
Chris is survived by his siblings, Ginger (Dick) Hunninghake, Dallas Hamlin, and Rene (Jerry) Hatcher. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will remember his kindness and generosity. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Hamlin and Gayle (Hart); his sister, Dana Brandt; and his brother, Mitchell Hamlin.
A visitation to honor and remember Christopher will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, 208 North 5th Street, Atchison, KS 66002. This will be a time for family, friends, and community members to come together to share memories and celebrate his life. Memorials may be left to the Atchison Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
