Agatha M. Sudbeck, 96, of Seneca, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the Life Care Center of Seneca.
Agatha was born on May 19, 1929, in Seneca, Kansas, to Frank and Thelma (Moynagh) Haefele. She grew up in the Seneca community and attended Sts. Peter and Paul School, graduating in 1947. Following her education, she worked at Citizens State Bank until 1950.
On April 25, 1950, Agatha was united in marriage to Junias J. Sudbeck at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, and farming. After their marriage, they purchased a farm south of Seneca on Nightingale Turnpike, where they worked side by side for decades. In 1993, they moved into Seneca. Agatha was a dedicated homemaker, a loving mother, and a true partner to her husband in all aspects of life. She found joy in the simple and meaningful things—fishing, spending time outdoors, cooking for her family, gardening, canning, and especially baking pies. She rarely missed an opportunity to attend her children’s and grandchildren’s activities, always offering her quiet support and encouragement.
She was a faithful member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Altar Society, and the LCBA, where her faith and service were evident throughout her life.
Agatha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Junias, who passed away on March 22, 2019. Together, they shared nearly 69 years of marriage built on love, hard work, and devotion to family. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Dorothy Shump, Thomas Haefele, and Margaret Meinhardt.
Agatha is survived by her son, Dan (Mary Rose) Sudbeck of Seneca, and her daughter, Jo Ann Sudbeck of Hoyt; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Rosaries will be prayed at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca on Monday, March 23, 2026.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca.
Agatha will be laid to rest next to Junias in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be left to Sts Peter & Paul School and the American Breast Cancer Society, sent in care of the family.
