On Friday of this week, the Morrill Public Library invites area seniors to Senior Socials from 1 to 4 p.m. in the library's large meeting room.

Enjoy an afternoon of games, snacks, conversation, and friendship in a welcoming atmosphere.

Senior Socials are held on the first and third Fridays of each month at the Morrill Public Library. We hope to see you there!

“Beyond the Studio” focuses on plein air art from southeast Nebraska artists showing their work at the Schoolhouse Art Gallery from October 1 to October 25. Visitors will experience work from Rich Hayek (Brownville), Debra Joy Groesser (Ralston), Better Vermeer (Auburn), Rebecca Walker Harris (Lincoln), Tootie Ebel (Falls City), and Steph Wolcott (Louisville). The collection encompasses current works of the artists. Debra Joy Groesser will be the guest speaker at the artist reception. “Painting is such a spiritual experience for me. Nothing inspires me more than being out on location, capturing the subtle nuances of color, light and atmosphere that can only be achieved by painting from nature." (https://www.debrajoygroesser.net) Debra’s works are shown in various galleries, including her studio in Ralston, and she has exhibited nation wide. A reception for the artists and Debra’s presentation will be Friday, October 2 at 6:00 pm at the Schoolhouse Art Gallery, 427 Main Street. It is free and open to the public.

 

In addition to Friday’s event, any and all plein air artists are invited to a paint-out on Saturday, October 3. Saturday’s agenda includes a morning paint-out with maps available at the Schoolhouse Art Gallery between 9:00 and 11:00. Between 11:00 and 12:12:00 artists are encouraged to share artwork for critiques. Following a brown bag lunch, Debra Joy Groesser will present a plein air demonstration and discussion. This will be followed by more paint-puts in the area. Ending the day will be happy hour with painting displays and sales at Whiskey Run Creek Winery.
