(KNZA)--The 2016 Hiawatha Halloween queen was crowned Monday evening prior to the evening parade, which concluded the 102nd annual Halloween Frolic.

Selected for the honor was Miss Sabetha: Lauren Herbster.

As the winner, Herbster, a senior at Sabetha High School, will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

The 1st runner-up and winner of a $750 scholarship was Miss White Cloud-Brown County: Aubrey Wright, a senior at Hiawatha High School.

Miss Robinson: Jessica Geiger, a senior at Hiawatha High School, was named as Miss Congeniality and will receive a $250 scholarship.

21 girls from 12 different schools competed in this year's scholarship contest.

The girls were judged on an essay, leadership skills, community involvement, scholastic achievement and an interview.
