(KNZA)--A new General Public Transit program is launched by the Sac and Fox Nation of Missouri in Kansas and Nebraska.

A press release issued by the tribe describes the program as a “demand response, first come, first serve, shared ride, fee based service.”

It will be available, by appointment, Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 in the morning until 4:30 in the afternoon. Appointments must be made 24 hours in advance.

Brown County, Kansas, and Richardson County, Nebraska, are named as the primary target for the program, the release states that the program will serve all of northeast Kansas, southeast Nebraska, and portions of Missouri.

The program is established through a partnership between the Tribal Council and the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Two vans will be used for the service, with one equipped with a wheelchair ramp.

Details regarding the program, including the cost and preferred payment method, can be found on the tribe's website. Information can also be obtained by calling (785)742-7471 Extension 2503.
