(KLZA)-- An inmate at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution assaulted a staff member Wednesday. 

 According to a release from the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, the inmate struck the staff member in the head and face.  The assault occurred at about 12:45 Wednesday afternoon in a staff office on a housing unit.  The staff member was able to exit the office and call for assistance.

The staff member sought medical treatment and was treated and released for non-life-threatening injuries.

The names of the staff member and inmate will not be released.  The incident will be investigated with the findings submitted to the Johnson County Attorney.
