50 Year Prison Sentence in Deadly Double Shooting

(MSC News)--A St. Joseph man convicted on charges in a deadly double shooting in January 2015 at a rural Faucett residence has learned his fate.

KQ2-TV reports a Buchanan County judge Thursday sentenced Daron Simpson to 50 years in prison on charges of second-degree murder and first-degree assault.

Simpson was found guilty of the charges last month.  As part of a plea agreement, two counts of armed criminal action and burglary were dismissed.

Authorities say Simpson smashed his vehicle into the garage of his ex-wife's home on January 24, 2015. Simpson then went into a bedroom of the home and shot his ex-wife, Amanda Simpson, and her boyfriend, 36-year-old rural Troy resident Andrew Clary.  Clary was killed.  Amanda Simpson survived the shooting.

She told the court her ex-husband committed the crimes while his two biological daughters were asleep in the same home.
