( KNZA)--Another suspect charged in the May shooting death of a St. Joseph teen has admitted their role in his death.
KQ2-TV reports 17-year-old Jay’Den Maynard, of St. Joseph, pleaded guilty Thursday in a Buchanan County courtroom to a charge of first-degree attempted robbery.
Sentencing was set for December 12th. The charge carries a sentence ranging from 5 to 15 years.
Maynard was among six charged in the May 17th shooting death of 18-year-old Skylar Powell in what prosecutors say was a drug deal gone bad.
Guilty pleas were accepted last week from four others charged in the case, with their sentencing also set for December 12th.
The judge declined to accept a guilty plea from the sixth co-defendant, Jason Smith. Smith faces a charge of involuntary manslaughter.
He was to have appeared in court Thursday, but his hearing was pushed back to October 26th.
