(KLZA)-- The Auburn Board of Education is expected to discuss using the gymnasium at the former Southeast Consolidated School in Stella to help alleviate issues at the schools in Auburn when they meet in November.
In September the Building and Grounds Committee suggested the idea. The Auburn School District would like to get away from having to have early morning practices for either the girls or boys basketball teams. With just the one gym, currently the girls or boys have to practice at 6:30 in the morning while the other team practices after school.
Steve Bantz owns the former Southeast Consolidated School. Superintendent Kevin Reiman tells MSCNEWS he was surprised at how good a condition the gymnasium floor is still in, despite having been closed down since 2009.
It would be a 15 minute bus ride to Stella if an agreement can be worked out.
