(KLZA)-- A ceremony for disposal of unserviceable flags took place at the Falls City Middle School last week.
The retirement, of the collected flags, was conducted by the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion with help from a number of students. VFW Auxiliary members, Members of the American Legion burned each flag, one by one, with ceremonial respect.
Falls City Middle School Principal Rick Johnson said “the ceremony is a great lesson for our students on how a Flag is to be retired along with the messages presented by both the VFW and VFW Auxilary.”
The Falls City Public School system extended their thanks the American Legion and the VFW Auxiliary for allowing the school to participate in this ceremony. They also thanked the Falls City Fire Department who was present.
