Two stolen trailers recovered by Kay County deputies

Sheriff Elect Steve Kelley said that about 7 p.m. Monday, Kay County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Corbi Wathor performed a traffic stop on a pickup pulling an enclosed trailer in the 300 block of West South Street in Newkirk.

During the stop, the vehicle and trailer were found to have been reported stolen after a burglary near Winfield, Kansas, earlier in the day.

The driver, 32-year-old Christopher Allen Guidry, was arrested and transported to the Kay County Jail.

Upon further investigation, a second trailer that was reported stolen in same incident was recovered by Kay County deputies near the Newkirk Sale Barn.

Deputies worked with Kansas Law Enforcement and all property was recovered and returned to the victims.

Guidry was booked into the Kay County Jail on two counts of Possession of Stolen Property.

The Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into other suspects connected to this larceny and others within Kay County.
