A contract for restoration work on the North Terrace at the Marland Mansion was approved Monday night at the Ponca City Board of Commissioners meeting.
The contract, for $168,694, is with Mid-Continental Restoration Company, Inc., of Fort Scott, Kansas.
The project was sent out for bid May 19, and Marland Estate Director David Keathly said two contractors attended the mandatory pre-bid meeting Sept. 6. The bid opening was Sept. 15 with only one bid opened.
The City of Ponca City will provide $140,230 toward the project. The Marland Estate Foundation has provided $12,500 for the engineering and architectural portion of the project and has committed $35,000 more for the project. The city's portion is budgeted from the Capital Improvement Project fund.
Mid-Continental Restoration Co. is the same firm which provided restoration services for the East Terrace at the mansion.
Alternate bids were requested for the project because the condition of the concrete structural deck is hidden under stone pavers.
No events or weddings have been scheduled for the North Terrace of the Mansion, between this year’s upcoming Oktoberfest and March 15, 2017. All work on this project is to be completed by March 15, 2017.
Keathly added in the meeting that this schedule may need to be amended because of possible filming at the Mansion.
