A sidewalk improvement project for the east side of Third Street from Grand Avenue to Cleveland Avenue will be advertised for bids on Thursday.
City Commissioners approved the date for advertising Monday night during the commissioner's regular meeting.
Traffic Engineering Manager Mike Lane said about 350 square yards of concrete sidewalk will be replaced and a stepped curb and gutter will replace the current 10-inch deep curb.
Alley approaches will include ADA-approved slopes for accessibility, Lane said.
The project will require the removal of two trees south of the alley and one tree north of the alley.
Lane said he expects a contract to be awarded in early November and the work would be done in January, after the holiday shopping season.
The project will be funded through the street and sidewalk sales tax.
