Patrol identifies Valliant accident victim

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has released the identity of the people involved in a fatal collision which occurred Monday morning at U.S.  Highway 70 and State Highway 98, three miles each of Valliant in McCurtain County.

Larry J. Nolen, 66, of Paris, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene of massive injuries by Medical Investigator Alisha Heinen. His body was transported  to Conley-White Funeral Home in Idabel.

Nolen was driving a 2013 Chevy pickup which collided with a 2017 Freightliner semi  truck driven by  Kevin Ray Terrell,  44, of Durant.

Terrell was transported to Plano Medical Center in Plano, Texas with head, trunk internal, trunk external, arm, and leg injuries. The Patrol reports he is in serious condition.

A passenger in Terrell's vehicle, Patrick J. Lambeth, 64, was transported to St Michael's Hospital in Texarkana, Texas  with head, arm, trunk internal, and leg injuries, in serious condition, the Patrol reported.

In a report on the investigation, the Patrol stated Nolen was northbound on SH98 and Terrell was eastbound on US70.  Nolen failed to yield and pulled out in front of Terrell.

The semi struck Nolen's vehicle, then ran off the roadway to the left and overturned 1 ¾ times, coming to rest on the driver’s side.

Nolen was ejected approximately 15 feet from the vehicle out the driver’s side door.

The Highway Patrol said its investigation is continuing.
