Peru, Nebraska- Peru State College professor of mathematics, Paul Hinrichs, received the Milton M. Beckmann Lifetime Achievement Award. The award was presented by the Nebraska Association of Teachers of Mathematics (NATM) in special recognition for a career of outstanding contributions of mathematics education in the State of Nebraska.
The NATM board established the life-time achievement award in 1989. Its purpose is to honor outstanding mathematics educators who have spent a lifetime working on the improvement of mathematics education in the state of Nebraska.”
Milton M. Beckmann was a longtime professor of mathematics at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He is most famous for his research into teaching students struggling in mathematics.
Hinrichs is cited for demonstrating outstanding teaching and leadership in the development of teaching strategies and technology for the teaching of mathematics.
The NATM is an affiliate of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
