(KMZA)--The Nemaha Central USD 115 Board of Education has given their approval to a program that provides weekend meals for children.  

The Board Monday evening heard a presentation from Nemaha Central Elementary and Middle School Early Childhood Special Education teacher Jamie Anderson on the Harvesters BackSnack program.

Nemaha County is located within the Harvesters 26-county service area in northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas.

The food is free and is  distributed through the local food bank.

Anderson requested permission to complete the requirements needed to implement the program in the elementary & middle school.  One  requirement is that the superintendent submit a letter of support authorizing the food bank to operate within the district.
         
The Board voted unanimously to authorize Superintendent Darrel Kohlman to write a letter of support allowing the food bank to operate within the district.
