(MSC News)--A St. Joseph man charged in a deadly double shooting in January 2015 at a rural Faucett, Missouri residence has entered into a plea agreement.
The St. Joseph News Press reports Daron Simpson entered an Alford Plea Monday in a Buchanan County courtroom to charges of second-degree murder and first-degree assault, canceling a jury trial that had been set in the case.
In an Alford Plea, a defendant does not admit guilt but concedes that the evidence would lead to a conviction.
As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors agreed to drop two counts of armed criminal action and a charge of burglary.
Sentencing was set for October 20th.
Simpson was charged in the January 24th, 2015 shooting death of 36-year-old Andrew Clary, of Troy. He was also charged with shooting his ex-wife, Amanda Simpson. She survived the shooting.
