Services Wednesday for Assistant City Attorney Dave Garrison

A celebration of David R. Garrison's life will be held at First United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Garrison served many years as Ponca City's Assistant City Attorney. He died Saturday at the age of 79.

He was born May 16, 1937, in Cushing, Oklahoma, and was a longtime resident of Ponca City.

He continued his work as an active practicing lawyer. Garrison was admitted to the State Bar of Oklahoma in 1967 after graduating with a Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma. He honorably served the profession and the community since that time as a Lifetime Member of the OU College of Law Association, the Kay County Bar Association, and as a Lifetime Member of Pampa Mason Lodge #966. He earned his undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University in 1965, with Delta Theta Phi honors and as a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

David married Glenda Marie Burns on July 11, 1962: a 54-year marriage that produced two sons, David T. Garrison and Darin T. Garrison. David is survived by his loving wife Glenda and devoted son Darin. He was “Papa” to his three adoring grandchildren, Grace (12), Riley (11), and Grant (9), and “Big Dave” to his two admiring daughters-in-law, Tanya and Tammie.

The family will hold a special Celebration of Life at the First United Methodist Church of Ponca City, 200 South Sixth Street in Ponca City at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church – his home church for over 48 years.
