Residential Requirement Could Change in Seneca

(KMZA)--The Seneca City Council is considering a change to the city’s employee residency requirement.

Currently, employees are required to live within a two-mile distance from the city.

City Administrator Matt Rehder told the Council Wednesday evening that the personnel committee is recommending that be changed to a 15-minute response time from the city.

A motion by Council member Bruce Hermesh to make the change in the city’s personnel policy died due to the lack of a second.

Following discussion, the Council directed Rehder to revise the proposed policy change so it doesn’t include department heads, and bring it back for consideration at their next meeting .  Department heads will still be required to live within a two-mile radius of the city.

In other business,  the Council approved an ordinance rezoning property located at 4th and Castle Streets from a R-1 single-family dwelling district to a R-2 two-family dwelling district.

The city Planning Commission recommended approval of the zoning change to allow for the construction of a duplex at the location.
