The Ponca City Habitat for Humanity held a Building Blitz over the Labor Day weekend, setting the pre-built house walls on a bare concrete slab in the 1000 block of West Grand Avenue.
Volunteers put in their hours Saturday morning lifting the walls and nailing them into position using nail guns.
This is the second home going up in the block that was donated to Habitat for Humanity by sisters Judy Million of Ponca City and Mary Montfort of Oklahoma City, along with their sister Joan Long of Wheaton, Ill. The addition is called Hampton Hope, a Habitat for Humanity neighborhood.
The sisters are the daughters of the late businessman J.C. Hampton, an early resident of Ponca City. The women also had one brother, the late John Hampton.
The property is on the north and south sides of Grand Avenue at Peachtree Street. It is part of the Hampton family's 160-acre tract farmed by their parents.
Habitat for Humanity plans to build a total of nine new homes on the properties.
