(KMZA)--The Nemaha County (KS) Commission has approved a 2017 county budget of nearly $13 million that calls for a nearly one mill property tax levy decrease.
That came following a hearing Tuesday drawing no public comment.
The budget contains an estimated mill rate of 48.669 mills, which is raise nearly $7.5 million in local taxes.
Even though the mill levy will decrease one mill, the county will be collecting more than $450,000 in additional taxes due to a $12 million increase in the county's assessed valuation.
