(KNZA)--A door to door sales pitch, targeting local area residents, draws the attention of authorities.

It's reportedly happening in Brown County, where Sheriff John Merchant says so-called sales representatives are claiming to work for a company called “Satellite HD.”

He says his office has received reports of the door to door solicitations being made in the communities of Horton and Everest during the weekend, with the salespeople telling their would-be customers “Satellite HD” is a partnership with Rainbow Communications.

However, Merchant says the local telecommunications company says that's not true, and has no affiliation with “Satellite HD.”

Merchant says Rainbow asks that anyone who receives a visit from the questionable company's representatives to notify them immediately.

The Sheriff also urges caution on the part of residents who receive such a visit, and to provide them with no personal information.
