Drunk Driving Leads to Cocaine Discovery

(KAIR)--An Independence, Missouri man, stopped for reckless driving just outside the city limits of Atchison, lands behind bars on multiple charges.

43-year-old Ricardo Venegas Herrera was arrested Saturday evening for felony driving under the influence, possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia as well as driving while revoked, according to a report from Atchison County Sheriff Jack Laurie.

Laurie states it was around 11:00 Saturday night when deputies received a tip that Venegas Herrera was driving recklessly on US 73 Highway traveling north just outside of town on the south side. Deputies pulled him over for speeding, and according to the report, further investigation showed Venegas Herrera to be under the influence.

After being placed under arrest, deputies found what they believed to cocaine in his pocket.

He was taken to the Atchison County Jail where he remains, held on a $10,000 bond.
