(KMZA)--The Nemaha County ( KS) Sheriff’s Office is alerting residents of another scam circulating in the county.
Sheriff Rich Vernon says the scam involves a message showing up on your computer after you have been checking your online banking.
The message will appear to be a security message and will give you a number to call in reference to your account. The caller will in turn ask for your credit/debit card number and will talk to you about a problem with your account. Vernon says the caller will then attempt to take money from your account as soon as they get your credit/debit card number.
He says this is a scam. Vernon reminds residents to never give personal information or account information over the phone to anyone.
Those who feel they have been a victim of this or any other scam are urged to contact the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office or your local police department.
