(KNZA)--The Atchison County Lake is no longer under a public health warning due to high levels of toxic blue-green algae.

The lake was not included in a list of lakes under warning status in a new release from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment Thursday.

Five lakes are included in the latest list—including Milford Reservoir.

Lakes under a warning are not closed.  However, direct contact with the water is strongly discouraged for people, pets and livestock.
