(KAIR)--It's the first full week of school for the students of Atchison County's USD 377. “We're in good shape,” Superintendent of Schools Steve Wiseman tells MSC News. “We've got a solid staff, we've got some new teachers and we've got some mentoring going on. We feel really good about the school year, where we're at, and the people we have in place. We think we're going to have a great year.”

Wiseman says among the steps taken recently for the district's future was the finalization of the 2016-2017 budget. “When we look at our budget for this year, it's set at 43.755 mils, which is about a mil lower than last year.”

The budget was finalized last week, when the Board of Education met for their regular session in Effingham.
