(KAIR)--The Atchison County Commission has approved for publication a proposed 2017 budget of nearly $16 million that calls for a 1.4 mill property tax levy decrease.

The budget contains an estimated tax rate of 53.6 mills, which is to raise $8.1 million in tax revenue.

The Commission will consider adoption of the budget following a public hearing on August 23rd at 1:30 in the afternoon in the commissioners room at the Atchison County Courthouse.
