(KAIR)--A Valley Falls woman convicted on drug and weapon charges in two separate Atchison County cases has been sentenced to more than 5 1/2 years in prison.
35-year-old Nicole Fox learned her fate Friday.
In the first case, Fox was sentenced to 20 months in prison on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of methamphetamine.
In the second case, Fox was sentenced to 49 months in prison for trafficking contraband into a correctional facility.
The sentences were ordered to be served consecutively.
She pleaded guilty to the charges last month.
Fox was arrested by the Atchison County Sheriff's Department following a June 4th shooting at a rural Valley Falls residence which left a man injured. Authorities at the time said she was in possession of a firearm, although she was a convicted felon, and in possession of methamphetamine. It was that drug that the Sheriff's Office alleges she smuggled into the Atchison County Jail by concealing it internally, leading to her arrest on June 12th while in custody.
