(KMZA)--The Seneca City Council has adopted a 2017 budget that keeps the  tax levy at about the same level as its been the past four years.

That came following a hearing at a special meeting Wednesday evening drawing no public comment.

City Administrator Matt Roehder says they were able to keep the levy about the same due to a nearly $1.4 million increase in the city’s assessed valuation.

The budget calls for the city to collect $713,000 in tax revenue, which is a $44,000 increase over this year.

In other business, the Council approved the purchase of a new patrol vehicle for the police department.

The Council accepted the low bid submitted by Honeyman Ford, of Seneca, for a 2017 Ford Explorer in the amount of just over $27,000, with the trade-in of a 2010 Dodge Charger.   It was among two bids received.
