(KNZA)--The city of Sabetha will try again for a grant through the Kansas Department of Transportation to help fund a proposed walking trail.
At the urging of the group Grow Sabetha, the Sabetha City Commission voted 4-1 this week to reapply for the grant. Commissioner Julie Burenheide cast the lone “ no” vote.
Grow Sabetha volunteers worked with the city administration last fall to apply for the KDOT grant, but the grant application was turned down.
If awarded, the Sabetha Herald reports the city would be responsible for an estimated $114,000 of the $1.3 million project cost.
The proposed trail would go north down Sixth Street from Main Street and circle the Sports complex.
