Auburn Council Awards Bid For Waterline Project

(KLZA)-- A bid has been awarded on the long discussed and often debated West Water Line Project in Auburn.

The City Council Monday night approved a bid of $424,000 from the Midlands Construction Company in Kearney, Nebraska to start work on the project on October 1st. Mayor Scott Kudrna said the Council was pleased with the bid that was lower than anticipated. The bid was $125,000 lower than the engineer estimate and approximately a quarter of a million dollars lower than what was anticipated by the City last spring.

Seven bids were received for the project. Mayor Kudrna said the City will pay for the entire project, utilizing some Community Redevelopment Authority funds to help with the cost. Previously the Auburn Utility Department was going to pay for the project but the Council was not comfortable with that scenario.

The amount of the bid will help the City free up some budget to use for other projects.

The project is to be completed in 120 working days.
