(KAIR)--A health warning continues for a local lake.

That word from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment as the Atchison County Lake remains on a warning list for dangerous levels of blue-green algae.

The lake is now one of four on the list for potential risks.

The lake is still open and activities such as fishing and boating are safe. But, the KDHE strongly discourages direct contact with water for people, pets and livestock.

Fish may be consumed from the lake after being washed with clean water. Only the fillet portion should be eaten and the rest discarded.
