(KNZA)--The proposed 2017 Brown County budget contains a 3.4 mill property tax levy decrease.
The Brown County Commission Monday approved the more than $12 million budget for publication after making several modifications.
The budget contains an estimated tax rate of 33.508 mills, which is to generate more than $5.4 million in property tax revenue.
The Commission was able to lower the mill levy due to a more than $12 million increase in the county’s assessed valuation.
The Commission will consider adoption of the budget following a public hearing at their August 15th meeting.
