(KNZA)--Horton voters will decide Tuesday whether the city should impose a one percent city-wide retailers sales tax to fund the construction of a new municipal swimming pool.
The Commission voted during a special meeting in May to put the special question on ballot.
If approved by voters, the sales tax would commence on January 1st and be in effect for 20 years.
Proceeds from the sales tax would be used to pay off revenue bonds that would be issued by the city in amount not to exceed $1.8 million to pay for the construction of the new pool and associated financing costs.
The new pool would be constructed at the site of the current pool, which has been closed for three seasons and is no longer insurable due to safety issues.
