Seneca to Smoke Test Sewer System

(KMZA)--The city of Seneca will be smoke testing it’s sanitary sewer system.

The smoke testing is to begin Monday, weather allowing.

The smoke testing, which is being conducted with the assistance of the Kansas Rural Water Association, will assist in finding breaks and defects in the sewer system.

The smoke is non-toxic, non-staining, odorless, and is white in color.

The city says the smoke shouldn’t enter resident’s homes or buildings unless they have defective plumbing or dry drain traps.

Residents are advised to pour at least a quart of water down each drain that isn’t regularly used just prior to the smoke test.
