(KLZA)-- A day after submitting his letter of resignation as Third Ward Council member in Falls City, 55-year old Steve Scholl was arrested on a charge of domestic assault.

According to the Falls City Police Department, Scholl was arguing with his wife shortly after 7:00 Saturday evening in the 1800 block of Harlan Street and he allegedly struck her. Scholl was arrested and jailed.

He has since bonded out. 

The domestic assault charge is a misdemeanor.

City Administrator Gary Jorn said Scholl on Friday submitted a letter of resignation from the City Council because he and his wife had moved out of the Third Ward. The letter is scheduled for Council action on July 18th.
