Funding Agreement Approved With Historical Society

(KNZA)--The Hiawatha City Commission has approved a 5-year funding agreement with the Brown County Historical Society.

The agreement, approved during the Commission’s regular meeting last week, is for caring and displaying of items belonging to the Frances Sewell Plamann Trust.

Under the agreement, the Historical Society will receive 30 percent of the annual distribution given the city by the Plamann Trust, not to exceed $7,000 in year one, $9,000 in year two and $12,000 in years three, four and five.

In return, the Historical Society is to provide at least one traveling exhibit or display in City Hall per year, display as many of Plamann’s items as possible at city hall and maintain the position of curator.

Either party can terminate the agreement by giving a 60-day notice to the other party.
