(MSC News)--Extreme heat is expected Tuesday, leading to the issuance of a heat advisory for the local region.
Hot and humid conditions are expected today with temperatures climbing into the 90’s with high humidity creating heat index values reaching 100 to 109 degrees.
Strong thunderstorms could also develop this afternoon and continue through this evening. Damaging wind, large hail and locally heavy rain are possible.
More strong and possible severe storms could impact the area late Wednesday afternoon and evening and again on Thursday, with heat index values reaching 105 each day.
The heat and humidity make heat-related illnesses such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion and heat stroke more likely if proper precautions are not taken.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air conditioned room and say out of the sun and check on relatives and neighbors.
