(KNZA)--The Brown County Commission approved the creation of a new county position along with a couple of new hires during its meeting Monday.

Commissioners voted to establish the position of Road and Bridge Superintendent and offered the role to current Road and Bridge Foreman Jerry Hisel. Hisel is set to begin his new position on April 27th at a salary of $30 per hour.

In other action, the Commission approved the hiring of James Lance as a full-time member of the Road and Bridge crew. Lance will start at $20.50 per hour, with his pay increasing to $22 per hour upon completion of his commercial driver’s license.

The Commission also approved the hiring of Joshua Herman for the position of full-time county landfill assistant at a salary of $22.50 per hour.
