(KAIR)--An Atchison bicyclist was seriously injured Friday evening after being struck by a car.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 5:00 at the intersection of Hickory and M Streets in Atchison.
According to the report, a 12-year-old Atchison boy was eastbound on M Street and failed to yield the right-of-way to a southbound Ford Fusion on Hickory Street. His bicycle was struck by the vehicle.
The boy was transported to Atchison Amberwell Hospital with suspected serious injuries.
The driver of the car, 26-year-old Talia Rawls, of Atchison, was not injured.
The Patrol says the bicyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of crash.
