Falls City Administrator preparing for audit

(KLZA)-- During the Administrators report during the April 20th City Council meeting in Falls City, Gary Jorn noted that he is attempting to complete the preliminary work to submit information to Auditors for the Fiscal Year 24-25 audit.

Since assuming the Administrators position on March 1, Jorn has been spending time going over financial records and updating various aspects of the city records including sale tax monies and CRA projects that utilized tax increment financing that should be wrapping up.

Work on a downtown electrical project to get power lines in the alley's placed underground and update the electrical service is getting closer to being completed.

City Councilman Derek Leyden encourages everyone to take a look at the alleys and see the progress.

Watts Electric is the contractor on the project. They have found electric transformers dating back more than 6 decades. Some of those transformers will be donated to linemen's schools to let them study the older technology.

Leyden said without the upgrades, which are expensive and required bonding and a sales tax increase, the city power grid was living on borrowed time.
