(KAIR)--Atchison Police, over the course of the weekend, beginning Friday, worked several drug-related arrests along with a separate disturbance call where officers say a suspect tried to bite an officer.
According to a release from Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson, the biting attempt happened Saturday after officers, shortly before 3:00 that afternoon, responded to a disturbance in the 600 block of South 7th Street.
Wilson says it was at that location that 50-year-old Sarah Crawford of Atchison was taken into custody for criminal trespass; and during the arrest attempt, she allegedly attempted to bite an officer and resisted.
Crawford was arrested for criminal trespass, assault on a law enforcement officer, and interference with law enforcement.
Once in custody, Crawford was booked into the Atchison County Jail. Her bond is set at $2,500.

In a separate case, Wilson says officers responded shortly after 6:00 Friday evening to the Atchison Walmart to investigate a theft which led to the arrest of two St. Joseph, Missouri women including 34-year-old Christian Chavez who faces a charge of theft. The investigation then led officers to a second person in a vehicle outside the store, where police say 43-year-old Mindy Kay was found in the alleged possession of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia and was arrested for related charges.
Once in custody, Chavez and Kay were booked into the Atchison County Jail but have since been released on bond.

The third case happened early Sunday morning when Wilson says officers checked on a parked vehicle around 5:00 at Dam 1 at 3rd and Harper Drive. Wilson says 26-year-old Sidney Darrenkamp and 44-year-old Marsoleno Ryland were both arrested after officers allegedly found controlled substances in the vehicle, including fentanyl, along with other drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Following their arrests, Darrenkamp and Ryland were booked into the Atchison County Jail where the pair remained in custody as of Sunday night.
