Improvements to be made to Horton shooting range

(KNZA)--Improvements will be made to the  City of Horton’s shooting range.

At the April 20th City Commission meeting, local resident Ken Krug reported that 71 baffles at the facility are in need of repair. In response, commissioners approved spending up to $10,000 from the city’s donations fund to cover materials and labor for the work.

In other business, the commission approved up to $14,000 for police department computer upgrades. The upgrades were already included in the city’s budget.

Several appointments were also made during the meeting. Daryl Wilhelm, Tina Nigh, Nick Dowell, and Bryan Hirsch were named to the Planning Commission, while J.T. Strube was appointed to the Appeals Board.

And finally, Mayor Bryan Stirton recognized Public Works Superintendent Randy Mayfield for five years of service to the city. Commissioners also approved a one-dollar-per-hour pay increase for Mayfield.
